As the stand-in and photo double for Channing Tatum in the Oscar-nominated film Foxcatcher, Brian Cowin was put to the test. He worked fourteen to sixteen hours a day, had to jump across a ravine and scale back up it — and even had to keep pace with the improvisation talents of the film’s star, Steve Carell.

But having served in the U.S. Army for six years and trained in wrestling and martial arts, Brian was perhaps the best candidate for the job, which he called “very demanding and very rewarding.”

A Pennsylvania native, Brian fell into his job as stand-in and photo double after auditioning for the role of a bodyguard. His similarity to Tatum and his skill set were evident, and he landed the behind-the-scenes gig. Brian even appeared in the film not just as Tatum’s hands but also as an injured MMA fighter. And, as noted in the article, Brian helped to write a scene in the film.
