Quite by accident and by a rather wonderful synchronicity, I came across a YouTube video about a short play debuting this week at Manhattan Repertory Theatre in New York City. It is titled The Stand-Ins, written by Luke Wise, directed by Sarah Schostack, and starring Monique Huff and Daniel Berlingeri.
Have a look at the promo for the play:
The play’s tagline is “Does being naked on TV excite you?,” implying the story has something to do with the job of the television stand-in. In fact, the Indiegogo page for the production describes the play in this way:
Through a chance meeting on set of a popular network TV show, two twenty somethings build up and break down the rules governing their identities, their relationships and tackle the age old existential question: Does being naked on TV excite you?
The final performances of the play are this Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 3, 5, and 6, 2013, all at 7pm. The Stand-Ins is being presented as part of Manhattan Repertory Theatre’s Autumn Play Festival.
