Since 2010, Stand-In Central has been running weekly blog posts about the work of the TV/film stand-in.
That’s over 12 years of content! Who’da thunk?!
Sometimes the content is light, like our series of haiku about stand-ins. But typically, we aim for practical advice for stand-ins. Sometimes that advice is for the newbie to stand-in work. But other times, that advice is tips and tricks for seasoned pros to stand-in work.
And from time to time, Stand-In Central runs hard-hitting topics dear to stand-ins. Topics like hate speech on the job, being “handled” on the job like a prop, pandemic stand-in work, issues around SAG-AFTRA, the long-time problem of stand-ins’ “falling through the cracks,” and the hazards of drone work.
Each article Stand-In Central runs includes a comments section, in which we invite comments — opportunities for stand-ins to share their experiences.
Understandably, stand-in work sometimes is a private topic. It’s work some stand-ins prefer to keep on the downlow, or it’s work that involves confidential production matters, or it involves work around celebrity actors who don’t want attention brought to their behind-the-scenes conduct, whether bad or good. (It’s usually good in our experience.)
Stand-In Central never has attracted a lot of comments. In fact, I’m not much of an online commenter myself. As founder and long-time editor of Stand-In Central, I’ve never been that motivated to add comments to random articles. So I get it.
Having said that, I know Stand-In Central has helped people. I hear it on set or I see it in messages. I see there are searches on the site for a range of topics dear to stand-ins. These searches sometimes serve as inspiration for future articles.
So. I have a request.
