When the film Steel Magnolias shot in Louisiana in the town of Natchitoches, Jacqueline Horton was hired as a stand-in.
For whom?
Dolly Parton.
In a recent interview with Jacqueline for Garden & Gun, Jacqueline talked about her experiences standing in on film released around 1989.
“When I got the call to be Dolly’s stand-in, they told me to bring the tallest shoes I had because I was shorter than her,” said Jacqueline. “But I did have the appropriate big hair—loads of it.”
Less about her stand-in work, the article tends more toward sharing about Jacqueline’s insights into her respective first-teamer, highlights of her experiences working alongside Parton, and the level of professionalism Parton brought to the production and her work.
