As Christmas 2024 comes to an end and Hanukkah just begins this year, Stand-In Central wants to thank you for reading and following this lonely little industry website.

It has been a true gift to learn on set that you follow the blog, that you get emails about new posts, and even that you learned about standing in from our downloadable ebook, The Stand-In Handbook.

This website is a labor of love about a job many people in the world know little about, and a job — before the founding of the website in 2010 — there was little information online about.

We care so much about the job of the stand-in in TV and film. We know the value it can have for a production. And we take the job seriously.

With that said, we also see the humor in the work — in having a job that can sometimes be seen merely as standing on a mark or looking like someone else.

(We know it’s a lot more that that. And we know a good stand-in is not merely standing on a mark, but keenly listening to all that’s going on around.)

Stand-In Central continues to serve those people who suddenly find they are booked to work as a stand-in on a TV show or film the night before — with no real idea what that means or what to do. Just come here and we’ll help you with an abundance of tips and information on the site.

If you read Stand-In Central, would you let us know? Would you please tell others about the website, and spread the knowledge?

And if you have benefitted from the website or something said on the website, would you take a moment to let us know with a brief comment?

Sometimes blogging into the online ether can feel as if no one is reading, no one is listening. But when we have learned that people do, it is so, so rewarding.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
