Not all work for a stand-in on a TV show or film is during the daytime.

Plenty of that work shoots well into the evening.

And sometimes, that work shoots completely overnight. You might report to work when there’s daylight, and you might wrap when there’s daylight, and in between, there was night.

If you work regularly on a production, you might get plenty of advance notice that an overnight shoot is coming your way. You may have time to prepare yourself.

But you might not get much advance notice. You might get booked on a production that shoots overnight that same night.

Not everyone does great with overnights. For example, the Editor of Stand-In Central can get pretty cranky on overnights, struggling to stay awake if the work is slow or sedentary. Caffeine can do very little to helping to stay awake at the beginning of an overnights schedule, until the body starts adjusting to the new reality.

So, Stand-In Central has a question:

How do you prepare for overnight shoots as a stand-in?
