Recently reported on Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios accepted a pitch for a film currently under the title Stand-In.
The Internet Movie Database entry for Stand-In states of its plot, “A Hollywood stand-in gets his chance to shine when the actor he’s standing in for mysteriously disappears.” Deadline’s article fills in some more details, stating its story “follows a Hollywood-obsessed stand-in who seizes his chance to shine after a series of events leads to the disappearance of the actor he’s standing in for.”
No word yet on where Stand-In would shoot but presumptively in and around Hollywood. So, if you’re a stand-in aspiring to stand in on a film about a stand-in, you might be in for some stories and confusing layers of film work!
The last time we heard about a stand-in as a subject of a film was Drew Berrymore’s 2020 film The Stand In. Back around when it was released, Stand-In Central complained that The Stand In did not even credit any of the film’s stand-ins. Hopefully when it comes to Amazon MGM Studios’ Stand-In, the producer does the right thing and elevates the status of its second teamers!
